Job Description: The Alta Vista Summer Program is a partnership between Alta Vista Elementary School and Ringling College of Art and Design. The program aims to provide opportunities for Sarasota youth to have access to lunch during summer break, learn literacy and art skills, and develop an understanding of healthy eating through mentorships with local college students and community members. This project is part of Alta Vista Elementary School's Eagle Academy and is a 2-generational approach aimed at educating and providing resources to both students and parents enrolled in the program. Student Workers will work with team members to help plan and teach lessons, facilitate interactive activities, and provide classroom support in the areas of nutrition, literacy, and art. This will enhance their learning objectives as art and design students by utilizing their skills, talents, and creativity to meet the needs of the community through art instruction. Student Workers will work with Kindergarten through 3rd graders, and parents of Alta Vista students. An interest in working with children is required. Program dates: 05/28/2019 - 07/24/2019 Student Workers will be required to be available the full length of the program and training. Student Workers are expected to work 15-20 hours per week of the program. Program Benefits: $12/hr salary, Living Stipend, Training. All majors are welcome to apply. Students graduating Spring 2019 are not eligible for this program.
